Holtz, M.D., FAAN is a neurologist based in Oakland, California as well as Clinical Professor of Neurology at the University of California, San Francisco with an extensive background for decades in education and direct clinical practice in various neurological healthcare capacities. He completed his MD and neurology residency training at the Boston University School of Medicine Affiiliated Hospitals and residency in Internal Medicine at the Kaiser Permanente Oakland Medical Center. Dr. Holtz has served in numerous positions - including Medical Director roles at John Muir Medical Center, Manor Care at Arcadia Alzheimer's Special Care Unit, Neurocare, Inc.'s Brain Injury Program - and has also lectured, in part, as an Adjunct Associate Professor of Neurology and Psychiatry at Touro University California. His professional focus includes general neurology, stroke, Parkinson's and other movement disorders, nerve repair, headache, multiple sclerosis, epilepsy, dementia and associated memory disorders. He co-founded the Gold-Certified Primary Stroke Center for John Muir Health at their Walnut Creek and Concord campuses in Walnut Creek, California. Dr. Holtz has also been recognized several times for his teaching and contributions to neurology including the prestigious J. Elliot Royer Award presented by the University of California, San Francisco "in recognition of his significant contributions to the advancement of Neurology." He currently serves as the Director of Continual Medical Education for the venerable San Francisco Neurological Society (SFNS) after having served as its President and was also President of the California Neurology Society (CNS) on whose Board of Directors he serves and is liaison to the American Academy of Neurology (AAN), formerly having been a member of the AAN's Government Relations Committee.
