Summary
- Dr. Stephen E. Scarantino was born and raised on Long
Island, New York and completed his undergraduate studies at
Villanova University.
He earned his medical degree from St. George's University
School of Medicine before returning home to the New York
Metropolitan area to fulfill his specialization in
Obstetrics & Gynecology at St. Vincent's Medical Center.
While at St. Vincent's, he published numerous articles on
women's health care and was acknowledged as an exceptional
Chief Resident. In addition, during his residency, Dr.
Scarantino completed the prestigious Galloway Fellowship in
gynecologic oncology while at Memorial Sloane-Kettering
Cancer Center.
Wishing to remain in the New York area with family and
follow in the footsteps of his late father, Patrick P.
Scarantino, MD, FACOG, Dr. Scarantino joined The Woman's Health Pavilion in 1999.
Dr. Scarantino is board certified in both Obstetrics &
Gynecology and Surgery and is a member of numerous
professional organizations, including the American College
of Obstetrics & Gynecology, the American Association of Gynecologic Laparoscopists, the International Academy of Pelvic Surgeons, the American College of Surgeons and the Brooklyn and Long Island Chapters of the American College of Surgeons.
He is affiliated with Long Island Jewish Medical Center, North Shore @Syosset, North Shore @Plainview and Winthrop University Medical Centers, where he actively enjoys the teaching and training of medical students and residents.
Recently, on the recommendation of the Chairman of the
Department of OB/GYN at Long Island Jewish, Dr. Scarantino
was recommnded for appointment as Clinical Assistant Professor of Obstetrics & Gynecology to the faculty of the Hofstra North Shore-LIJ School of Medicine.
Dr. Scarantino has been recognized in many prestigious publications and has received numerous citations.
