- I am board certified in emergency medicine, and I have always enjoyed this work, as the variety, complexity, and instant gratification of a good diagnosis or procedure cannot be found in any other specialty. I spend a little extra time listening to and examining my patients, and they appreciate it. This extra time up-front saves time, money and radiation by avoiding unnecessary work-ups on occasion, and also makes missing the correct diagnosis less likely. I am eager to work at a hospital whose workers take pride in delivering a high quality patient experience, from the check-in desk to the sub-specialist. I find satisfying the patient a natural part of the job.
