- Dr. Stephen Dunn is a pediatric transplant surgeon in Wilmington, DE and is an employed physician of the Nemours Children's Hospital Delaware and on the
medical staff of affiliated hospitals in the area including Thomas Jefferson University Hospitals, Geisinger Medical Center and Nemours Hospital Orlando. He completed medical school and general surgery training at Indiana University School of Medicine and Medical Center. He completed pediatric surgery training at St. Christophers Hospital for Children and transplant training at Jefferson and University of Nebraska. He has been in practice over 30 years. He specializes in pediatric kidney and liver transplantation and hepato-biliary surgery including portal hypertension and hepatic malignancy surgery. He is board certified in surgical critical care. He has participated in over 800 pediatric organ transplants. Dr. Dunn has also partnered with several international sites to build capacity for liver and kidney transplant services for children including Bolivia, India and Jamaica. He is currently working with the surgical leadership of Bustamante Children's Hospital in Kingston, Jamaica. Dr. Dunn's academic and research interests include immunosuppressive drug use in children, infectious disease monitoring by real time PCR, clinical outcomes in hepatoblastoma including authorship of numerous articles related to the Children's Oncology protocol AHEP 0731. More recently he has been including tumor reduction therapy with Y-90 as an adjunct to chemotherapy to make liver tumor resection possible and liver replacement less likely. Dr. Dunn is happy to provide advice or support to those who are interested in his core areas of interest.
