- I am an Internist and Geriatric specialist at Cornerstone Medical Group, PC, an integrated group of healthcare professionals specializing in individuals with chronic disease at home and in long-term care. I am a Certified Medical Director through The American Board of Post-Acute and Long-Term Care Medicine and currently serves as the Medical Director for the Deberry Special Needs Facility in Nashville, Tennessee Family Solutions, which attends people with intellectual disabilities and is a consultant to Spiras Health, Inc. I attended the University of Rome, Italy, and graduated from Central University Medical School in the Dominican Republic in 1983. I completed residency in Internal Medicine at The Griffin Hospital, a Yale University Medical School Affiliate and was a Geriatric Research Fellow at the Veteran’s Administration Medical Center in Minneapolis. After fellowship, I became the Associate Director of Clinical Research for Duphar Laboratories located in Weesp, Holland. In 1990 I co-founded Geriatric Research and Evaluation, Inc., GRAE, to provide consultation and information to individuals, families and organizations about aging and chronic disease. I am a member of the Assisted Living Non-Institutional Subcommittee for the American Medical Directors Association and served on the Board of Examiners for Nursing Home Administrators for the state of Tennessee. He previously was the Regional Director of Life Care Physician Services LLC, where he received the Physician of the Year Award – Eastern Division for 2017 and Executive Medical Director for Avalon Hospice. Dr. D’Amico created a palliative care program for nurse practitioners and physicians for TeamMD / United Health Care. The program equipped providers to interact more effectively with families on end of life care.
