  • Dr. Stephen Borowitz is a Pediatric Gastroenterologist at the University of Virginia in Charlottesville, VA. He received his M.D. at Rush Medical College in Chicago and then completed a residency in pediatrics followed by a fellowship in Pediatric Gastroenterology, Hepatology and Nutrition at Vanderbilt University. He has been on the faculty at the University of Virginia since 1988 and since 2004, has been a Professor of Pediatrics and Public Sciences. He served as Division Chief of the Division of Pediatric Gastroenterology, Hepatology and Nutrition for ten years and Associate Chair for Education in the Department of Pediatrics for seven years. He has expertise in the management of many pediatric and nutritional problems in childhood. Dr. Borowitz has published extensively, with recent works in journals like Frontiers in Pediatrics and JMIR Medical Education, and contributed to research on topics such as school absenteeism, constipation and encopresis, and EHR usability. During his career he has received numerous clinical and teaching awards.
