She earned her medical degree from the University of Minnesota Medical School in 1988. She completed an internal medicine residency at Stanford University Medical Center and cardiology fellowships at Harvard affiliated programs including Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center and Brigham and Women's Hospital. She served in a variety of roles at Vanderbilt University Medical Center from 1996-2004, including medical Director of the Heart Transplant Program, Medical Director of the Mechanical Cardiac Support Program, and Director of the Women's Heart Program. From 2004-2024 she directed the St. Thomas Heart Midtown Comprehensive Heart Failure Program and Co-Founded the Comprehensive Perinatal Cardiac Center with Dr. Cornelia Graves. In 2025, Dr. Davis joined St. Thomas Medical Group at St. Thomas West Hospital where she continues to care for cardiology patients and created the Heart Success Program. Dr. Davis has contributed significantly to her field, notably in transplant cardiology, advanced heart failure, and cardio-obstetrics. She is a Fellow of the American College of Cardiology and American College of Physicians.
