Summary
- Dr. Nanda was accepted in to the B.S./M.D. Program after graduating high School in New York City. She attended York College of Pennsylvania and received a B.S. in Biology. She then graduated from Penn State College of Medicine and received an M.D. degree. She finished one year of family practice residency at Montefiore medical center in Bronx, NY then switched her career path to psychiatry. She completed her adult psychiatric residency at St. Vincent's Medical Center, which was the main hospital for victims of the 9/11 attacks. She went on to complete her child and adolescent training at Columbia and Cornell University hospitals in New York City and had the opportunity to gain experience in two of the best academic centers in New York City. She is now Board Certified in Adult and Child/Adolescent Psychiatry and Neurology.
Here in the San Francisco Bay area, Dr. Nanda provides psychiatric evaluation and management for children, teens, and adults while working at a variety of places. She has experience in treating eating disorders such as anorexia, bulimia, and binge-eating disorder in a residential treatment program and also providing cutting edge telepsychiatry services.
She currently works as a sub-investigator conducting pharmaceutical research in getting new psychiatric drugs approved by the FDA. She also works at a community mental health clinic treating adults with chronic mental illness such as Schizophrenia, PTSD, depression and Bipolar disorder.
Dr. Nanda is also a certified Zumba instructor and is working on teaching Zumba to her patients and others in the community. She believes that the mind body connection is very important and aerobic exercise such as Zumba and yoga can help mitigate symptoms in mental illness.
