- Dr. Simiao Li-Sauerwine is an Associate Professor of Emergency Medicine, Associate Residency Program Director, and Medical Education Fellowship Director at The Ohio State University. She is a nationally recognized speaker on the topics of physician well-being and equity in academic medicine. Dr. Li-Sauerwine is a medical education researcher and her research interests include physician well-being and mitigation of implicit bias in medical education.
Dr. Li-Sauerwine completed her undergraduate studies at Pomona College and medical school at the University of Pittsburgh, where she earned a combined MD and Master of Science in Clinical Research as a Doris Duke Clinical Research Fellow. She completed her residency training in Emergency Medicine at Northwestern University McGaw Medical Center, where she was awarded multiple Outstanding Teacher Awards and elected to the Best Resident Role Model award by her peers. At OSU, she directs the Sam Kiehl III Emergency Medicine Resident Wellness Endowment and is founder and faculty lead for Residents and Faculty Females Together (RAFFT), a longitudinal professional development curriculum and mentorship group for women in academic emergency medicine. National leadership positions include serving as the 2023-24 Chair of the Council of Residency Directors in Emergency Medicine Well-being Committee. Recognitions for her achievements include The Ohio State University College of Medicine Clotilde D. Bowen MD Women of Excellence Faculty Award, The Ohio State University College of Medicine Women in Medicine and Science Emerging Leader in Healthcare Award, and the CORD Academy for Scholarship in Education Distinguished Educator in Educational Research.
