Summary
- Shirin Peters, MD, is a primary care doctor, passionate about proactive, preventative medicine. She lives in New York City with her husband and two young sons and is on a mission to engage and guide city-dwellers to find their optimal health. Shirin grew up in London, England and then High Point, North Carolina, but has now called New York home for over 15 years. Her love for the city fuels her love for its residents as well as her understanding of the unique challenges and opportunities that exist for New Yorkers.
After completing medical training and a short stint in primary care in High Point, North Carolina, she returned to New York City to start her own practice and inherited a small patient base from a colleague who was leaving the city. Shirin has been a Primary Care Doctor and Medical Director in New York City since 2011. Since 2014 she has been a Consultant and Medical Director at several healthcare startups including Klara Technologies where she is still on the advisory board.
An advocate for proactive over reactive care, Shirin shares her opinions on all things health-related freely. She seeks to connect with patients near and far and strives to use her medical education to act as a curator for the information overload that streams from the internet to anyone interested in wellness or healthcare. Shirin's passion is for helping patients be the best version of themselves: physically and emotionally; on the inside and the outside.
Shirin is founder and owner of Bethany Medical Clinic of New York - a network of independent free-standing primary care offices. At Bethany, Shirin creates and implements care protocols for preventative care, as well as for acute and chronic primary care.
Factors known to affect health directly inform Bethany's care protocols and include: the genes affecting health; nutrition; environmental exposures and habits; patient-selected health goals; and social-emotional support.
