Summary

• Sherrie is a board-certified PMHNP and licensed as an APRN. She received her Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) specializing in Psychiatric Mental Health from the University of Utah and completed her undergraduate studies in Microbiology and Nursing at Weber State University. She is a member of the Sigma Theta Tau International Honor Society, the American Nurses Association (ANA), American Psychiatric Nurses Association (APNA), and Utah Nurse Practitioners (UNP). Sherrie became interested in Psych while working in the Emergency Department, witnessing how underserved those with mental illness and neurological disorders were within the healthcare system. Realizing how vulnerable this population was, she wanted to help them find ways to cope with the stigma they faced. Sherrie’s experience in EDs, Psychiatric Departments, Community MH clinics, Assertive Community Treatment teams, and co-facilitating Grief Groups for individuals dealing with the loss of a loved one to suicide, offers a unique insight into mental illness. She remains up to date on the latest research of pharmacological treatments and modalities in mental health. She believes in treating patients in a holistic manner- as unique individuals- and not merely treating their disease process. Her passion is working with serious and persistent mental illnesses, including major depressive disorder, generalized anxiety disorder, bipolar disorder, mood and personality disorders and schizophrenia. Sherrie enjoys gardening, hiking the outdoors, spending quality time with her family and loves the traveling adventures they go on and places they see.
