Summary

  • Sharjeel Ahmad grew up in Karachi, Pakistan and received his medical degree from the Aga Khan University Medical College in Karachi, Pakistan. He completed his Internal Medicine residency and Infectious Diseases fellowship training at West Virginia University School of Medicine, Morgantown, WV from 2004 to 2009 and worked at a community health center (CHS, Inc) in Hartford, CT 2009-2013, serving as the Associate Director of Adult Medicine Department and as the Associate Director of the Infectious Diseases program, supervising a Ryan White program for HIV/AIDS patients. He also started a Refugee Health and a comprehensive hepatitis C management program for the underserved population served by CHS.

    He is currently working as faculty in the Infectious Diseases Section of the University of Illinois College of Medicine-Peoria (UICOMP) Department of Medicine since October 2013. He is currently the director of Positive Health Solutions, a UICOMP owned clinic which provides a vast array of services for persons who are living with HIV/AIDS. He completed a Masters in Public Health from Creighton University, Omaha, NE in 2016. His clinical and research interests includes, but is not limited to, HIV, viral hepatitis, Tropical Medicine, Global Health and General Infectious Diseases.
