- Dr. Uthamalingam (known as Dr. Utham) is an Interventional Cardiologist. He received his medical degree from Madras Medical College in India. After that, he went to England for further studies. In 1997, he became a Member of Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons in London. He then came to the U.S. for his Internal Medicine Residency at the Sound Shore Medical Center of Westchester, a New York Medical School teaching affiliate. Then he received a Geriatric Medicine Fellowship Training at Beth Israel Medical Center, a Harvard Medical School teaching affiliate.
In Boston, Dr. Uthamalingam received a Nuclear Cardiology Fellowship at Massachusetts General Hospital(MGH), a Harvard Medical School teaching affiliate. Also, he completed two years of Fellowship Training in Cardiac Imaging from MGH. At MGH, he was involved with research in nuclear cardiology and cardiac radiology, heart failure. His work was highly recognized, and published in many journals. He then went on to complete a 3-year Cardiology Fellowship and 1-year Interventional Cardiology Fellowship at Baystate Medical Center, Tufts University affiliated program in Springfield, MA.
Dr. Uthamalingam is board certified in Internal Medicine, Cardiovascular Diseases, Echocardiography, Nuclear Cardiology, Cardiac CT and MRI and Vascular Ultrasound. He is well versed in all aspects of cardiology, and his areas of interest include coronary angioplasty and interventions, and the treatment of peripheral vascular disease as well as structural heart disease.
Over the years, he has published many research articles in the areas of acute coronary syndromes, congestive heart failure.
Dr. Uthamalingam was born and grew up in India, and in his youth he enjoyed playing basket ball. He lives with his wife and their two children in Nacogdoches and they enjoy sports and traveling.
