He has published numerous medical articles and presented medical research at scientific meetings. Within his specialty, he has a particular interest in the newest treatments in GERD, inflammatory bowel disease, irritable bowel syndrome, clinical nutrition and liver diseases including fatty liver disease. He went into gastroenterology because of the ability to offer complex care while forming deep long lasting connections with his patients. Dr. Ahmed moved to Georgia to complete his gastroenterology fellowship at Emory University. During this time, he served on several committees and completed specialized training in inflammatory bowel disease while visiting Northwestern University in Chicago, Illinois. He began his career at Piedmont Healthcare where he served as the Chairman of the Department of Medicine at Piedmont Rockdale Hospital and expanded new pH testing and motility technology offerings. In his spare time, Dr. Ahmed enjoys hiking, reading, sports and spending time with his wife and two children.
