Summary

  • Seth Himelhoch, MD, MPH is professor and chair of the Department of Psychiatry at the University of Kentucky College of Medicine. He received his medical degree at the University of Michigan School of Medicine (1994) and completed his residency training in general psychiatry at the University of California, San Francisco (1998). He completed a fellowship in health services research through the Robert Wood Johnson Clinical Scholars Program at Johns Hopkins School of Medicine (2003), where he concurrently received a Master Degree in Public Health from the Bloomberg School of Public Health (2003). Dr. Himelhoch additionally completed a fellowship in Implementation and Dissemination Science through the Implementation Research Institute (2012).
    His research focuses on developing and studying the efficacy of innovative strategies aimed at improving the health and welfare among people with co-occurring psychiatric and substance use disorders. He has a longstanding interest in evaluating behavioral interventions for people living with HIV AIDS who have co-occurring substance use and psychiatric disorders. His current work seeks to evaluate the most promising behavioral and pharmacologic treatments aimed at achieving maximal efficacy for smoking cessation among people living with HIV/AIDS who smoke. He recently completed a Robert Wood Johnson Clinical Scholar Fellowship (Cohort 2: 2017-2020).
