He has a clinical interest in endoscopic surgery as applied to bariatric/metabolic endoscopy (including intragastric balloon placement, endoscopic sleeve gastroplasty, and revisional therapies for weight regain such as transoral outlet reduction -TORe-), natural orifice transluminal endoscopic surgery -including peroral endoscopic myotomy (POEM) for the treatment of achalasia, gastroparesis, and Zenker's diverticulum-, postsurgical complications, pancreaticobiliary disease, gastroesophageal reflux disease (via transoral incisionless fundoplication -TIF- and other antireflux endoscopic therapies), and use of a full-thickness resection device (FRTD) for tumors of the upper and lower gastrointestinal tract.
Some of the unique procedures he performs include endoscopic-ultrasound (EUS)-guided gastric access for temporary endoscopy (GATE) via lumen-apposing metal stents to facilitate interventions such as an endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatography (ERCP) and other luminal interventions, EUS-guided gallbladder & bile duct drainage (hepaticogastrostomy, choledochoduodenostomy, and rendez-vous approaches), EUS-guided gastroenterostomy in patients with malignant gastric outlet obstruction or afferent limb syndrome, and EUS-guided portal pressure gradient (EUS-PPG) measurement.
