He received his medical degree from the Hahnemann University School of Medicine (Philadelphia, PA) before going on to complete his general surgery residency at Conemaugh Memorial Medical Center/Temple University (Johnstown, PA) and cardiothoracic surgery residency at University of Alabama at Birmingham (Birmingham, AL).
