Summary

• Dr. Kempe-Mehl is a board-certified neurologist and fellowship-trained in movement disorders. She attended Harvard Medical School, during which time she presented original research examining the presurgical evaluation process for epilepsy surgery to the American Epilepsy Society. She then returned to the west coast to complete her internal medicine internship at University of California Irvine (UCI), followed by neurology residency at University of California San Francisco (UCSF). She subsequently completed a fellowship in movement disorders at Stanford University, with specialized training in the management of Deep Brain Stimulation (DBS) for treatment of Parkinson's disease, essential tremor, and dystonia. Dr. Kempe-Mehl has been a regular speaker among local community patient groups, including the Parkinson's Association of Santa Barbara (PASB). She is also an active member of the Movement Disorders Society (MDS) and the American Academy of Neurology (AAN).
