- Sara Hegab is an accomplished healthcare leader with over 15 years of experience in the medical field. She is currently a pharmaceutical executive in Medical Affairs at Bayer Pharmaceuticals, where she leads the development and execution of medical affairs strategies for the Specialty and Pipeline portfolio. Sara also continues to practice medicine and is an Attending Physician at Henry Ford Health, where she provides clinical care for critically ill patients in the intensive care unit. In her prior role at Henry Ford Health, she served as Associate Director of the Pulmonary Hypertension program, a nationally recognized PHA Center for Comprehensive Care. She founded and led the Pulmonary Embolism Response Team (PERT), a multidisciplinary team of specialists whose mission is to deliver timely and effective treatment for patients with life threatening acute pulmonary embolism. Sara is triple board certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine (ABIM) in Internal Medicine, Pulmonary Medicine, and Critical Care Medicine, and holds a Doctor of Medicine degree from Alexandria University. Her areas of expertise include pulmonary medicine, specifically pulmonary hypertension, CTEPH and VTE, critical care medicine, medical leadership and team building, clinical trials and research, and medical education. Sara is passionate about advancing the science and practice of cardiovascular, pulmonary and critical care medicine, and strives to deliver high-quality patient-centered care. She champions collaboration, innovation, and diversity, and leverages her expertise and experience to support the mission and vision of Bayer Pharmaceuticals.
