• Dr. Sameh F. Moawad is the Robert J Dole VAHCS Chief of Staff, and prior to that he was the Chief of Staff and Chief Medical Officer of Amarillo VAHCS for over 3 years. As the Executive Physician, he serves as the Chairman of the Medical Staff, Medical Executive Board, and PSB. Dr. Moawad has provided clinical leadership, strategic planning, policy making, and clinical oversight for the entire Healthcare system. He also has provided robust process improvement in all clinical areas, and direct supervision of all clinical service chiefs, which include Ambulatory Care, Audiology, Pathology and Laboratory, Mental Health, Occupational Health, Rehabilitation Medicine, Pharmacy, Surgical service line, Care Management, Social Work, Geriatrics and Extended Care, Medicine Service, inpatient care, Dental Service, Emergency Medicine, Care in the community, and Radiology, in addition to the Medical Staff Office, Medical Informatics, Academic Affiliations, Medical Education, Women's Health and Whole Health. he also had served as Acting Medical Center Director. Dr. Moawad has been instrumental in improving veteran's access to care, Veterans experience, and the quality of healthcare provided to the veterans at Texas Panhandle, the Healthcare system was successful to achieve the top rating of 5 stars on SAIL for four quarters from FY2018 Q4, Dr. Moawad is a board certified primary care physician, a diplomate of the AOBFP. He is also a Clinical Associate Professor of Family Medicine with TTUHSC. Prior to his current appointment, Dr. Moawad served as Amarillo VAHCS Associate Chief of Staff Ambulatory Care Services, prior to that he served as the CMO of Lubbock VA. Dr. Moawad completed, The VHA Health Care Leadership Development Program in 2018. Dr. Moawad is VHA physician advisor to Risk Management Boot Camp for Physician leaders, and as the VHA physician Liaison to the VHA Risk Management Advisory Council ( CRM).
