Summary
- I discovered my passion for interventional pain management during my residency training at Washington University in St. Louis. With these interests, I went on to pursue fellowship training at the Cleveland Clinic in interventional spine and pain where I served as the chief fellow in my program.
The aspect of my profession that I find the most fascinating is how I am able to impact the lives of many patients without invasive surgery. Back in the day (and still sometimes to this day) the automatic solution for a patient with a herniated disc or spinal deformity was referral to a spine surgeon and often times a major surgery. While this is sometimes warranted, many times patients can improve with medical and interventional treatments short of surgery.
By utilizing interventional techniques (epidurals, facet injections, sacroiliac joint injections, radiofrequency ablation, etc). combined with physical therapy and exercise, I have found that over 80 percent of these patients are able to improve to a better more functional level without surgery.
My practice mantra is to utilize conservative treatments from physical therapy, spine injections, and preferably non-opioid medications when needed to treat back pain and return the patient back to their "pre-pain" life.
In my spare time I enjoy spending time with my wife, traveling, and reading James Patterson. We have been welcomed and well-received to the Chicago community. Please let me know if you have any questions regarding how I can be of service to you and your patients.
