Summary
- Dr. David Shahbodaghi is a native of Columbus, Ohio. He is an alumnus of Muskingum University where he earned baccalaureate degrees in Neuroscience and History. He received his commission as an Active Duty Army Officer through the U.S. Army's F. Edward Hébert Health Professions Scholarship Program. He attended medical school at the West Virginia University School of Medicine where he was a student in the combined MD/MPH programs as well as a Global Health Track Scholar. He holds a Master’s Degree in Public Health with concentrations in Global Health as well as Occupational and Environmental Health and Safety (OEHS) from the WVU School of Public Health.
Dr. Shahbodaghi has a particular interest in the areas of Clinical Tropical Medicine, Travelers Health and Global Public Health. He is a graduate of the Tropical Medicine Training Program at West Virginia University with a Diploma in Clinical Tropical and Travel Medicine.
He holds the Certificate of Knowledge in Clinical Tropical Medicine and Travelers’ Health (CTropMed®) designation from the American Society of Tropical Medicine and Hygiene as well as the Certificate in Travel Health (CTH®) credential from the International Society for Travel Medicine. He has also spent substantial time abroad in the practice of clinical tropical medicine serving with both civilian and military aid teams in Mexico, Nicaragua, Guatemala and in the West Indies on the Island of Barbuda.
Dr. Shahbodaghi completed his internship and residency training in Family Medicine at the Dwight David Eisenhower Army Medical Center at Fort Gordon, Georgia, where he served as Chief Resident and later as a member of the residency's primary teaching faculty. He is a Diplomate of the American Board of Family Medicine and currently serves the Officer-in-Charge (OIC) as well as the Medical Director of the East Bliss Health & Dental Center. He also serves as the Hospital CME Director at William Beaumont Army Medical Center, Fort Bliss, Texas.
