- Ryan Fillmore, MD, is a quadruple board certified Neuro-Intensivist, Critical Care Neuro-Physiologist/Epileptologist, and serves as the current Chair for the Department of Neurology at Novant Health Presbyterian Medical Center. He is also adjunct faculty for UNC School of Medicine at Chapel Hill, Charlotte campus in the department of neurology/neurocritical care. He served as the interim Stroke Medical Director for the Greater Charlotte Region until 2024. Dr. Fillmore specializes in Neurology with sub-specialties in Epilepsy, Neurophysiology, and Neurocritical Care. He completed his internal medicine preliminary year and neurology residency at Virginia Commonwealth University Health System. He then completed two fellowships: Neurocritical Care at UC Irvine Medical Center and Epilepsy/Critical Care EEG at Yale-New Haven Medical Center, completing his twelve years of medical training in 2021. Dr. Fillmore has specific experience in traumatic brain injury (TBI), status epilepticus, encephalitis, ICU- electroencephalography, intracranial EEG, ischemic stroke, intracranial hemorrhage, aneurysmal SAH, neuromuscular weakness with respiratory failure, cerebral edema management, and critical care medicine. His particular research interests include use of mutlimodatlity monitoring via quad-lumen bolt placement in the neurocritically ill, acute symptomatic seizures, cortical spreading depolarization, neuroprognostication after cardiac arrest, and post-traumatic epilepsy.
