- Russell Swan, MD specializes in Advanced Cataract Surgery, Corneal Surgery, Glaucoma surgery, and Laser Vision Correction. Dr. Swan joined Bozeman Health Deaconess Hospital in August of 2017. He graduated from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln with highest distinction and the University of Nebraska Medical Center with high distinction where he started a free eye clinic for under/uninsured patients. He went on to complete his ophthalmology residency training at the Moran Eye Center at the University of Utah. Dr. Swan completed an advanced year of fellowship training in Cornea and Refractive Surgery, Advanced Anterior Segment and Glaucoma at Vance Thompson Vision and is an Adjunct Assistant Professor at the University of Utah Department of Ophthalmology and Visual Sciences.
Dr. Swan has participated in numerous FDA monitored clinical trials, and published multiple peer-reviewed articles on various topics in the field of ophthalmology. He has a passion for ophthalmology outreach and has participated in free charity surgery days, regional outreach to the Navajo Nation in Utah, and two months of service and training in Kathmandu, Nepal. He currently serves in a national leadership role for the Seniors EyeCare Program. IN addition he is focusing efforts on continuing to develop infrastructure and training support for the National Residency Training Program at the Hospital San Felipe in Tegucigalpa, Honduras.
In his free time, Dr. Swan enjoys spending time outdoors with his wife Monica and three children Aubree, Oliver, and Monte. They enjoy hiking, biking, golfing, skiing, and exploring God’s great creation. Dr. Swan is ecstatic for the opportunity to bring the world’s most advanced technology and surgical treatments to Montana.
