Summary

  • I am a solo OBGYN practioner completing my Residency training in 1984 in Louisville,KY and moved back to Richmond,VA and have been in practice of general OBGYN since. My subspecialty areas of focus include a committment to MIS GYN (minimally invasive gyn) Surgery. I have taken a lead role at my primary hospital of Bon Secours St Mary's Hospital over the past 5 years in developing new MIS proceedures and standardizing the quality of car of these proceedures. I am a certified surgeon for the use of the DaVinci Robotic system since May 2010 having done over a 100 major gyn proceedures. I have been the primary motivator in getting our hospital and interested gyn surgeons to undertake the challenge of obtaining COEMIG status with our site review taking place today. We anticipate meeting all the qualifications and should be able to advertise very soon that we are a Center Of Excellence in Minimally Invasive Gynecologic Surgery. This will make us one of only 2 COEMIG centers in Virginia and the only center in the state outside of Norhtern Virginia. This should improve the quality of care for women in the Commonwealth bringing high quality and state of the art of the latest MIS GYN proceedures. I have been actively involved in MIS GYN surgery since the start of my Residency in 1980 when we were teaching the General surgeons how to perform laparoscopy. I recognized the potential advantages of MIS GYN proceedures with new breakthrough technology opening the possiblities for MIS GYN ever broader and took the excitement I experienced early in my career and have followed that passion for newer and better innovations and have never looked back. This has beena revolutionary change for Women's Health Care and I plan to be a part of that cotinued innovation for the rest of my career.
