- I am a board certified adult psychiatrist with over 24 years of experience in the diagnosis, treatment, and management of acute and chronic psychiatric illness. Within my profession, I have cultivated specific areas of skills, interest and specialization including but not limited to chronic depression and other mood disorders; anxiety, panic and obsessive compulsive disorders; attention, focus and memory problems; PTSD including sexual and military related trauma; sleep disorders and eating disorders.
I have expanded my psychiatric practice by integrating hollistic approaches to traditional psychiatric medications and psychotherapy to treat the condition most effectively and enhance treatment outcomes. My approach focuses on the connection between the mind, spirit and whole body with comprehensive assessment of various physiological process such as genetics, hormonal imbalances, nutrition deficiency, environmental toxins, gut health, and epigenetics influencing mental health and disease.
I received my undergraduate education from University of San Diego and medical education from Uniformed Services University of Health Sciences in Bethesda, Maryland. I completed my psychiatric residency at the National Capitol Consortium in Bethesda, Maryland. I am a diplomat of American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology.
I have served over 22 years on active duty service in the Navy. Since leaving the Navy medicine, I have worked at a Naval Hospital, moonlighted at the VA hospital, San Diego county emergency room and inpatient unit, in private practice and telepsychiatry.
