- Ross Mckinney, MD, is a retired Pediatric Infectious Disease specialist and Duke University Medical School Professor Emeritus of Pediatrics located in Orange County, NC. He completed his residency in Pediatrics at Duke University Hospital after graduating from the University of Rochester School of Medicine and Dentistry in 1979. Dr. Mckinney served on faculty at Duke from 1985 to 2016, including work as Division Chief for Pediatric Infectious Diseases, Vice Dean for Research at the School of Medicine (2002-2007), and Director of the Trent Center for Bioethics, Humanities, and HIstory of Medicine (2007-2016). He retired from Duke in 2016 and served as the Chief Scientific Officer for the Association of American Medical Colleges in Washington DC 2016-2023. His published works include studies and essays on HIV treatment in children and various topics in infectious diseases and research ethics. He has also been involved in several clinical trials focusing on HIV treatment regimens and nutrition in HIV-infected children.
