  • Dr. Roopa Kohli-Seth is a nationally recognized leader in critical care medicine, serving as the Director of the Institute for Critical Care Medicine (ICCM) at Mount Sinai Health System, overseeing 17 ICUs and one of the nation’s largest critical care fellowship programs. As a board-certified, tenured Professor of Surgery at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai, she brings over two decades of expertise in critical care, research, and healthcare leadership.

    Dr. Kohli-Seth has spearheaded transformative clinical initiatives, including launching the Rapid Response Team (RRT), the nurse-driven Vascular Access Service, and the Central Intensivist Service. During the COVID-19 pandemic, she played a pivotal role in developing the "Prone Team", an interdisciplinary initiative to improve care for ARDS patients.






    As an active clinical researcher, Dr. Kohli-Seth serves as a Principal Investigator and Co-Investigator in multi-center phase II and III trials, with a focus on septic shock, ARDS, and COVID-19 treatments. She has authored over 200 peer-reviewed publications and book chapters and chairs multiple hospital committees dedicated to patient safety and clinical excellence.

    Her leadership and dedication have been recognized with numerous prestigious awards, including the Women of Courage Award, multiple Physician of the Year honors from Mount Sinai Hospital, and the Mount Sinai Alumni Special Recognition Award (2024).

    Passionate about advancing critical care quality, education, and research, Dr. Kohli-Seth remains at the forefront of shaping the future of intensive care medicine.
