  • Dr. Ronald Poropatich is the Director of the Center for Military Medicine Research, Health Sciences and Professor of Medicine in the Division of Pulmonary, Allergy, and Critical Care Medicine at the University of Pittsburgh. Dr. Poropatich is also Professor of Sports Medicine & Nutrition in the Department of Sports Medicine and Nutrition, University of Pittsburgh, School of Health and Rehabilitation Science and an affiliated faculty member of the McGowan Institute for Regenerative Medicine at the University of Pittsburgh. He is an experienced Pulmonary/Critical Care Medicine physician who served 30 years on active duty in the US Army retiring in 2012 at the rank of Colonel with extended assignments at the Walter Reed National Military Medical Center, Bethesda, MD (formerly the Walter Reed Army Medical Center, WRAMC, Washington, DC), from 1985 to 2012. He received his medical degree from Drexel University in 1985. He completed his internship and residency in Internal Medicine at the WRAMC as well as his fellowships in Pulmonary and Critical Care Medicine.
