Summary

  • As a Board Certified Mindfulness-Based Psychiatrist, Psychotherapist and Workshop Facilitator, and an Experienced Systemic Family Therapist, Relationship Coach and Consultant, I define my mission as bringing mindful awareness, presence and compassion to Psychiatry, Psychopharmacology and Psychotherapy.

I have extensive knowledge, training, mastery and expertise in the assessment, diagnosis and treatment of emotional distress in a wide range of social, psychological, spiritual and relational contexts, working to optimize individual, family and community health. I am proficient and accomplished in working with individuals, families, other health care professionals, and community resources.

My approach to therapy is to people develop skills to better recognize and manage your stress, anxiety, sadness, and depression, while developing greater responsibility for your own health and emotional wellbeing. I facilitate the development of new, more productive ways to respond to life's difficulties, negative thoughts, and painful emotions so that one can get back in touch with basic aliveness and capacity for joy.

I was graduated summa cum laude from Brandeis University and The Albert Einstein College of Medicine. In addition to my psychiatric residency training, I was educated at the Psychiatric Epidemiology Program of the Columbia University Joseph L. Mailman School of Public Health. Subsequently I completed the four-year core postgraduate training program in Family Systems Theory and Therapy at The Family Institute of Westchester founded in 1977 by internationally renowned Family Therapist and author Betty Carter.
