Summary
- I am a board-certified general surgeon with a practice in gastrointestinal surgery. My areas of expertise are surgeries for ulcerative colitis and Crohn's disease, as well as sphincter preservation surgeries for rectal cancer. Following my surgery residency in Argentina, I came to the University of Pennsylvania to do research in nutrition and metabolism. Then, I re-trained in General Surgery and began my academic career at UCLA. I returned to Philadelphia to join the faculty at Hahnemann, and later became the Chief of General Surgery and Residency Program Director at Temple. I obtained an MBA from Temple and became the Chairman of Surgery at Morristown Medical Center in 2003. Since then I have worked on expanding the Department of Surgery and the residency program in various ways raising Gastrointestinal Surgery to a top 50 hospital by USNWR in 2019. This distinction puts Morristown ahead of many distinguished university hospitals. This may be surprising to some but not for me because I was part of distinguished university hospitals before and see no difference at Morristown.
