Summary

  • I was born in El Paso, TX and raised in southern New Mexico (chile country along the banks of the Rio Grande). I attended The University of Notre Dame for freshman year, then transferred to New Mexico State University in Las Cruces, NM (Go Aggies!) and obtained a B.S. in Chemistry. I received my medical degree at the Uniformed Services University of the Health Sciences (USUHS) in Bethesda, MD in 1993. I completed Postgraduate medical training in Internal Medicine at Keesler AFB Medical Center in 1996, followed by a 3-year specialty fellowship in Hematology and Medical Oncology at Wilford Hall Medical Center in San Antonio, TX.
I remained in the AF from 1999 through 2006. Following a Military career, I joined an oncology practice in San Antonio and stayed there two years while I found my permanent home. In 2008, Dr. Rahman recruited me to San Angelo to join West Texas Medical Associates. I remained in San Angelo over 10 years, and in 2019, I joined the faculty at Texas Tech University HSC - El Paso, at the rank of Assistant Professor in the Department of Internal Medicine, Division of Hematology/Oncology, where we plan to start a new Internal Medicine Residency at the Hospitals of Providence.
I love spending time with my dogs and listening to music (all sorts)--I enjoy running, cooking, and eating (and running). I love art and photography--and lately, I’ve picked up sketch drawing (my dogs) and watercolor painting. I cherish time spent with friends and family, and delight in hosting them at my house throughout the year. I find great fulfillment in living a simple life, and therefore I remain single--did I mention that I like to run?
