Summary
- I was born and raised in Manchester, England.
I started my biomedical degree at Northumbria University in Newcastle, England, before transferring to St George’s University in Grenada.
In America I completed my Medical degree and undertook a year of research at the University of Maryland Medical Center. During this time I was involved in the creation and management of many NIH funded research studies into novel immunosuppressive therapies within the field of renal transplantation.
I undertook my medical residency at Jersey City medical Center. Here I have been exposed to a large proportion of the medically under-served community. I strive to continue my work helping those who are less fortunate and to alieve suffering where I can. Being close to Manhattan and such a large migrant population I have encountered several rare and exotic cases which I believe leave me well exposed to the varying presentations of diseases and differential considerations.
During my final year of medical residency I was elected to be the chief of medical residents. My active responsibilities are to assist in the creation and management of a well-balanced medical education program for my fellow residents and to aide in the problem solving of the various issues both interpersonal and medical arising from the day to day administration of a residency program.
I have also participated in the development of a sickle cell program here at the hospital whose aim is to reduce the number and frequency of admissions including length of stay of such afflicted patients without compromise of care and patient satisfaction. In addition I have developed a trial based upon the surviving sesepsis campaign. Aimed at proving the benefits of selective drug decontamination of ICU patients to reduce ventilator associated pneumonia and increase patient survival, as this has been shown to be effective within several European trials and is an often neglected consideration within the sepsis campaign.
