Overview of Dr. McIntyre
Dr. McIntyre did his undergraduate work at Vanderbilt University then earned his MD in his home town of New Orleans at Tulane University School of Medicine. He completed surgical internship and residency at the University of Colorado Health Sciences Center before joining the faculty as a senior instructor in 1992 for only 1 year. During this year he trained in Surgical Critical Care. He stayed in Denver and took over as Chief of Endocrine Surgery from Dale Leichty MD. In 1996 he became the Trauma and Surgical Critical Care Medical Director at University of Colorado Hospital. Now 30 years later he is still in Denver and is currently The Cynthia H and John H Schultz Professor and Chief of the Division of GI, Trauma and Endocrine Surgery (GITES). Additionally he is the Vice Chair of the Department of Surgery for Finance at the University of Colorado School of Medicine and the Associate Chief Medical Officer for Surgery at University of Colorado Hospital. He has published over 225 manuscripts and 57 book chapters. He is the Editor of the textbook Surgical Decision Making. He has given over 200 invited lectures and visiting professor presentations and 150 research presentations. He is a member of numerous surgical societies and has served on numerous national committees. He served as President of the Southwestern Surgical Congress in 2012 and the Western Trauma Association 2021-2022.
