- Dr. Masella is a Board Certified, Sports Medicine-fellowship trained Orthopedic Surgeon. Dr. Masella's athletic background provides him with a personal appreciation and focus on sports related injuries. In High School, Dr. Masella was a three sport athlete, playing football, basketball and baseball. Following High School, he continued his football career at Yale University. At Yale, he was a four-year varsity letterman. He had the distinct honor of being elected team captain his senior year. He was awarded First Team All-Ivy League and First Team All-New England Sports Writers accolades.
Dr. Masella completed his orthopedic residency training at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital. He then completed his fellowship training in Sports Medicine at the University of Massachusetts. During his fellowship, he worked with some of the world's leading experts in Sports
Medicine. He participated in the care of several high profile sports teams in the New England region. This unique experience, coupled with his training, has given Dr. Masella the expertise to treat complex, sports related injuries at NJOG. He has a special interest in arthroscopic shoulder, knee and hip surgery.
Dr. Masella lives in Essex Fells, NJ with his wife Nicole and their 5 children. His children attend Montclair Kimberly Academy. He is proud to serve as the team physician for his alma mater, James Caldwell High School, as well as MKA and other local sport teams. He
can often be found on the field coaching his children.
