  • Dr. Kalimi joined North Shore Univeristy department of Cardiothoracic Surgery in 2004 after serving as clinical instructer in surgery at Columbia Presbyterian College of Physicians and Surgeons where he specialized in Minimally invasive and Robotic Cardiac Surgery.

    Dr. Kalimi is the Chairman of the Department of Cardiovascular and Thoracic Surgery at South Shore university Hospital and holds the title of Associate Professor of Cardiothoracic Surgery at the Zucker School of medicine, Northwell Health.

    Dr. Kalimi has particular interest in complex mitral valve repair, minimally invasive cardiac surgery, surgery for atrial fibrillation, aortic valve surgery, transcatheter aortic and mitral valve repair and replacement, and coronary artery bypass grafting surgery. He is board certified by American Board of Surgery as well as the American Board of Thoracic Surgery. He is the site Prinicipal Investigator for minimaly invasive and percutaneous transcatheter mitral repair as well as replacement valve technologies being currently researched. He is the Author of a book entitled "Clinical Scenarios in Thoracic Surgery" published by Lippincott Williams & Wilkins. He is the author of multiple peer reviewed publications in the area of cardiac and thoracic surgery.
