- Dr. Robert Nicholas Abood, MD, is a Pediatric Pulmonologist with a robust background in both clinical practice and academic medicine. Based at Akron Children's Hospital in Ohio, Dr. Abood currently serves as Co-Director of the Lewis H. Walker, MD Cystic Fibrosis Center's Pediatric Program and Director of the Cystic Fibrosis Therapeutics Development Center. His leadership extends to his role as Medical Director of the Clinical Exercise Physiology Laboratory, where he has been influential since 2019.
Dr. Abood completed his undergraduate studies in Biophysics at Allegheny College, graduating magna cum laude, and earned his medical degree from Drexel University College of Medicine. He pursued residency training in Pediatrics at Indiana University School of Medicine and a fellowship in Pediatric Pulmonology at UPMC Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh.
An Assistant Professor of Clinical Pediatrics at Northeast Ohio Medical University, Dr. Abood is deeply involved in teaching and mentoring medical students and residents. His dedication to education is evident through his numerous lectures, workshops, and simulation training sessions.
Dr. Abood is board-certified in both General Pediatrics and Pediatric Pulmonology by the American Board of Pediatrics. He is actively involved in several committees, including the Protocol Review Committee of the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation's Therapeutics Development Network. His research contributions focus on clinical trials for cystic fibrosis, supported by grants from the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation and industry sponsors.
