  • Dr. Richard J. Szabo is a urologist specializing in infections and inflammation, based in Orange County, CA. He completed his medical degree at Stanford University School of Medicine, followed by his internship and residency in general surgery at the Harvard Fifth Surgical Service, and residency in urology at Stanford. Dr. Szabo is Clinical Professor in the Department of Urology at UC Irvine. He is presently in practice as a Physician Emeritus at Kaiser Permanente Orange County where he served as Chief of the Department of Urology from 2001 to 2014. Prior to that he was the Chief of Urology at Kaiser Permanente San Francisco from 1992-1996. He has authored multiple publications on the infectious complications of prostate biopsy and more recently on transperineal prostate biopsy and continues to train urologists in this technique. He is a reviewer for several journals, including the Journal of Urology.
