Summary
- I serve on the College of American Pathologist's Board of Governors. My principal area of expertise is in Accreditation and I currently chair the CAP Council on Accreditation. I am working hard to solve problems brought on by COVID, and efforts to control accreditation costs. The Board recently approved a streamlining of COA that will make it more efficient and less costly. As a Board member, I am a strong supporter of the College's Advocacy activities aimed at keeping pathology reimbursements fair and equitable. The strength of the CAP is in our membership and every effort to grow our membership is important. To do this, we need to address issues of diversity, equity, and inclusion so we don't alienate potential members. I also serve on the Executive , Finance, Audit , and Information Technology committees and and other IT related workgroups. I have been faculty on the Lab Medical Director Practicum since 2013. Previous roles with CAP include chair of the Commission on Laboratory Accreditation, and member of Council on Education and Accreditation, Complaints, Accreditation Education, and Checklist Committees. I have led over 130 national and international accreditation inspections and reviewed over 1000 inspections as Regional Commissioner.
I'm an AP/CP board-certified pathologist and worked in private practice for 15 years before coming to Oregon Health Science University where I have practiced since 2001. Current positions at OHSU: Professor, Vice-Chair Clinical Pathology. Responsibilities include CLIA Director of Laboratory, Director of Transfusion, and I regularly signout both Cytology and frozen sections.
