- Dr. Richard Hoffman is an Emeritus Professor of Medicine at the University of Iowa Roy J. and Lucille A. Carver College of Medicine. He earned his MD from Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine in 1984 and later completed his Internal Medicine Residency at Oregon Health & Science University. Subsequently, he pursued an MPH in Epidemiology from the University of Washington. His research has focused on prostate, colorectal, and lung cancer screening; treatment for early-stage prostate cancer, and shared decision making. Throughout his career, he has held prominent roles such as the Division Director of General Internal Medicine at the University of Iowa Roy J. and Lucille A. Carver College of Medicine and Co-leader of the Cancer Epidemiology and Population Science Program at the University of Iowa Holden Comprehensive Cancer Center. He is currently a member of the American Cancer Society's Guideline Development Group. Dr. Hoffman is a widely published author, with noteworthy contributions to journals such as the Journal of the National Cancer Institute, JAMA, Annals of Internal Medicine, JAMA Internal Medicine, and Annals of Internal Medicine.
