Summary
- I am a physician scientist and board-certified pediatric hematologist/oncologist with a research program focused on the molecular mechanisms by which drug transporters contribute to overall chemotherapy disposition and interindividual response to drug therapy in pediatric oncology. Our projects are primarily laboratory- and translational-based which rely on background knowledge in the fields of molecular biology and clinical pharmacology. I earned my medical degree in 1997 and a Master of Science in Clinical Investigation in 2004, both from Vanderbilt University School of Medicine. I completed a pediatrics residency in the Department of Pediatrics in 2000, a clinical fellowship in the Division of Pediatric Hematology/Oncology at Vanderbilt Children's Hospital, and a research fellowship in the Division of Clinical Pharmacology at Vanderbilt University Medical Center in 2003 (in the laboratory of Richard Kim MD). Our laboratory has received continuous funding from NIH since 2007 and our work is currently supported by a R01 grant from NIGMS. My clinical focus is centered on stem cell transplant. I joined the faculty at Monroe Carell Jr. Children’s Hospital at Vanderbilt in 2003 and am board certified by the American Board of Pediatrics in General Pediatrics and Pediatric Hematology-Oncology.
