    Dr. Bell is currently Physician Executive at Providence Health & Services-Oregon, where he is Director of the Division of Surgical Oncology Radiation Oncology and Clinical Programs at Providence Cancer Institute; Co-Director of the Providence Head and Neck Cancer Program and Clinic; Director of the Providence Fellowship in Head and Neck Oncologic and Microvascular Reconstructive Surgery; and is Associate Member and Director of Surgical Oncology Research at the Earle A. Chiles Research Institute in the Robert W. Franz Cancer Center.

    Dr. Bell has been elected to leadership positions within multiple professional societies, boards, foundations and committees, including the National Institutes of Health, and is Past President of the American Academy of Craniomaxillofacial Surgeons and the American College of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons.

    Dr. Bell’s research is directed toward enhancing surgical resection with both biologically and technologically advanced therapies. He and his scientific collaborators focus on modulating the tumor microenvironment prior to surgery by reversing immunosuppression through monoclonal antibodies, vaccines and bioengineered materials for local drug delivery. In addition, Dr. Bell leverages team science to apply a multi-omics approach for immune profiling of head and neck cancer with goal of delivering personalized immunotherapy. Using his surgical practice to run phase I and phase II trials, Dr. Bell bridges basic, translational and clinical activities. His work has resulted in over 150 scientific articles and book chapters, and he is co-editor of two major textbooks, including Oral, Head and Neck Oncology and Reconstructive Surgery. Among his honors, he has been awarded Fellowship (Ad Hominem) in the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh.
