Summary

  • After a one year internship in Houston at Texas Medical Center, I served in the U.S.P.H.S. Indian Health on the Navajo Reservation for two years. I worked as an E.R. attending for several years in Boulder,CO, Oakland, CA and finally at Montefiore Hospital in Bronx, N.Y.
In 1977, I began my study of Classical Five Element Acupuncture with Prof. J.R. Worsley in Oxford, England. I continued my study and practice of Classical acupuncture to this day.

My life-long interest in treating chronic illnesses, especially those which do not respond to conventional treatment, has recently led me to the use of various medicinal cannabinoids for sleep disorders, neuropathic pain, cancer and a variety of stubborn medical problems. The results have been very impressive and continue to improve as more of the nearly 100 known compounds in the cannabis plant are isolated and tested for clinical use.

Most recently, my search for novel treatments for chronic illnesses has led me to the study and use of Low Dose Naltrexone (LDN). The opioid receptor blocker in Methadone is Naltrexone, and it has been re-purposed for low dose or micro-dose administration. LDN interrupts inflammation-associated neural pathways in the brain by stabilizing the microglial cell membranes resulting in a centrally mediated interruption of chronic inflammatory cascades. LDN (4.5mg/day) has been repeatedly shown to be very effective in the treatment of chronic pain, autoimmune diseases, cancer, mood disorders such as anxiety and depression and PTSD.
