Summary
- I am the Carol D. and Henry P. Professor in the Department of Radiology at Vanderbilt University Medical Center (VUMC) in Nashville, Tennessee. I have 25 years of experience as a practicing interventional radiologist, NIH-funded scientist, and educator.
Having served as Vanderbilt’s Chair of Radiology from 2012 - 2023, I oversaw over 700 faculty, staff and trainees. I was Chair of the Board for the Vanderbilt Medical Group (2021-2023), founded Vanderbilt University School of Medicine’s Medical Innovators Development Program in 2015, and co-led VUMC’s strategic planning efforts starting in 2016. Nationally, I served as President of the Association of University Radiologists (2022-23) and President-elect of the Society of Chairs of Academic Radiology Departments (2022-2023).
I'm an avid public speaker who enjoys promoting sustainability, equity, and innovation in health care for national radiology organizations and for the public. I recently stepped down as Chair of Radiology to pursue a one-year sabbatical focused on climate change and sustainability. As a builder and strong communicator of the future, my goals are to motivate US healthcare to decarbonize their operations and to adopt sustainable practices.
