Summary

  • I am a board-certified neurosurgeon at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center specializing in brain tumors, including surgery, intraoperative MRI, endoscopic techniques, and radiosurgery. Few neurosurgeons in the country specialize in brain tumors, and many neurosurgeons perform mainly spine surgery and rarely operate on a brain tumor. Our brain tumor program is very active, and we offer many clinical trials for brain tumors including brain tumor vaccines and other novel therapies. We have a dedicated brain tumor team with neuro-oncologists and tremendous experience.

I also have a general neurosurgery practice involving hydrocephalus and the use of endoscopic third ventriculostomy to avoid shunts in properly selected patients as well as ventriculoperitoneal shunts with programmable valves. I perform spine surgery, but sometimes our role as physicians is to perform quality surgeries, and at other times our role is to properly counsel people what non-operative treatments are still options.

Over the course of my career, my research has included malignant brain tumors, a neuroprotective compound in stroke, and high-field intraoperative magnetic resonance imaging (MRI). My current research interests include new technologies in neurosurgery and clinical trials for brain tumors, including brain tumor vaccine protocols.
