- Dr. Espaillat was born and raised in New York City and graduated from the Pontificia Universidad Catolica Madre y Maestra in the Dominican Republic. He returned to New York to Bronx-Lebanon Medical Center to complete his Internal Medicine residency and board certification in Internal Medicine.
After 7 years in private practice in New York and Long Island specializing in cardiovascular and metabolic disease, Ramon joined Abbott in 2005 as a Senior Medical Liaison in the Cardiovascular Division. During his 6 years as an MSL, he worked extensively throughout Latina America developing educational and outreach programs with healthcare providers and institutions as well as gaining a second board certification in Clinical Lipidology. He also spent 6 months in Johannesburg as the interim Affiliate Medical Director for South Africa/Region Africa. With the birth of AbbVie in 2013, he became a Medical Director within Medical Affairs helping develop ongoing medical strategies and tactics to address unmet medical and patient needs.
