Summary
- I'm an Assistant Professor of Medicine at UCSF in the Division of Hospital Medicine. I received my BA and MD, and subsequently completed my residency, at Northwestern University, following which I completed a research fellowship and Masters in Clinical Research at UCSF. I joined UCSF faculty in 2011.
My work centers on the use of information technology applications in health care. I'm working primarily on a project to transform clinical communication within and between providers and their teams using ZipRounds, a pager-Twitter-Facebook platform I built in conjunction with SalesForce and UCSF's Information Services Unit (ISU) and UCSF Medical Center IT. My team and I successfully piloted this platform at a UCSF hospital in April and May of 2012 and have subsequently been working to create a mobile application for the same platform, which is ultimately meant to replace paging as a modality.
I'm also Web Editor of Archives of Internal Medicine.
I also attend on the Inpatient Medicine service.
My areas of research interest include:
Inter-provider communication
Information technology
Decision support
