- Dr. Rajiv Parikh is a plastic and reconstructive surgeon at MedStar Washington Hospital Center and Assistant Clinical Professor at Georgetown University School of Medicine. His clinical interests are reconstructive surgery for cancer and trauma patients and microvascular reconstructive techniques. He specializes in breast reconstruction, functional limb salvage, and facial paralysis surgery. Dr. Parikh was raised in North Florida and completed medical school at University of South Florida, where he graduated with academic excellence and earned membership to the Alpha Omega Alpha Medical Honor Society. He completed plastic surgery residency at Washington University in St. Louis/Barnes-Jewish Hospital, and an additional year of specialty fellowship training in Reconstructive Microsurgery and Complex Oncological Reconstruction at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center in New York. In addition to clinical surgery, Dr. Parikh is an active researcher. He completed a Master of Population Health Sciences degree at Washington University School of Medicine and his research training was supported by a National Institutes of Health (NIH) National Research Service Award. Dr. Parikh was an inaugural recipient of the Plastic Surgery Foundation Clinical Research Leaders Scholarship Award. Dr. Parikh is nationally involved with plastic surgery organizations. He served as a resident ambassador to the
Editorial Board, and is a peer-reviewer, for the journal Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery (PRS). He is on several patient safety and research committees for the American Society of Plastic Surgeons and recently served a 3-year term on the American College of Surgeons’ Plastic Surgery Advisory Council.
