Summary
- Dr. Gopalakrishnan earned her Medical Degree with honors and distinction in Research via the Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute- Albany Medical College in Albany, NY where she was awarded the May Halen Prize, for excellence in Oncology. She completed her Internal Medicine residency at UTSW and Fellowship at Vanderbilt Ingram Cancer Center. She has co-authored numerous book chapters, peer-reviewed journal articles and presentations at ASCO. She was awarded Tennessee Oncology Practioners Society Outstanding Fellow Award multiple times in a row and was also provided numerous ASCO travel grants including a Conquer Cancer Foundation award.
She is a practicing hematologist oncologist at Mount Sinai- Columbia NCORP program and her areas of focus are women's health cancers and head and neck cancers. Currently an adjunct professor at FIU. She is currently privileged to serve as a medical advisor and serve on the executive leadership board for the South Florida Susan G Komen Leadership Council. She currently serves on professional organizations in oncology, including the American Society of Clinical Oncology (ASCO) and serve as a early career investigator and early trainee liaison and serve on the breast guidelines committee . She has been privilege to serve on Alliance and NRG committee and serve on the Women's Health Prevention committee, Breast committee and serve as the subcommittee chair for numerous alliance trials. In addition, she serves on the Precision Oncology Alliance Council for women's cancers and health disparities.
Her research areas Interests include oncology drug development and clinical trials, the breast microbiome, breast cancer genomics, health disparities, women in medicine, and rare breast cancers including male breast cancer, pregnancy-associated breast cancer, pre-menopausal breast cancer, among others as well as disparities in head and neck.
