• Dr. Rafael Martinez is a board-certified pulmonologist with more than 20 years of experience treating pulmonary diseases and sleep conditions. As co-founder of Pulmonary & Sleep of Tampa Bay, Dr. Martinez’ special interests include clinical research, early lung cancer detection, interventional bronchology, and interstitial lung disease. His practice has grown to include five convenient locations in the Tampa Bay area. Dr. Martinez seeks to put himself “in his patients’ shoes” to understand their suffering, find the problem’s root cause, and treat both cause and symptoms. Patients appreciate that he is bilingual in English and Spanish, able to conduct consultations with clarity and understanding for each individual. Dr. Martinez attended medical school at the University of Zaragoza School of Medicine in Zaragosa, Spain, and completed his residency at Mayaguez Medical Center in Mayaguez, Puerto Rico, followed by a fellowship in pulmonary medicine at University District Hospital in San Juan.
